Thanks for organizing the shindig at the Bulldog! It was a blast even if the game did not go as we all hoped.
Posted by Soccerfan at April 4, 2005 09:08 PMI feel bad because I feel that way about the man that Batgirl has her eye on. :(
Dearest Batgirl, can you ever forgive me?
I really did not think I had a Boyfriend, but after my trip to Florida and the amazing experience of standing a few feet away from a stellar crew of Twins taking batting practice under the shelter at Hammond Stadium on a rainy morning, I can now report that my boyfriend has to be.... Torii Hunter. There we were, my friend Bella and I, a couple of, well, let us say, MATURE people, and we just looked at each other and laughed because our hearts were going all pitty pat pitty pat at the nearness of him. Not that it wasn't a thrill to see Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, and Michael Cuddyer (who was chatting with a fan through the chain link fence and seems to be just about the nicest person in the world), and Jacque Jones, and Shannon Stewart -- not to mention Johan doing a little throwing off the mound -- not even to mention an appearance by none other than Tony Oliva. But that Hunter fellow has just got IT, that's all I can say.
Smitty
Posted by Word Smith at April 4, 2005 09:50 PMMy boyfriend is Joe, though not Joe the young catcher that Batgirl has claimed as her boyfriend.
My Joe is a pitcher. No, not the starter who has been on the D.L for the past year or so, and who we hope will be well and in top form for us this season.
My boyfriend is our V.P. and closer, the Nathanest of all Joe's.
Posted by bubblemint at April 4, 2005 09:54 PMI'll post this again here in the hopes that the rightful owner reads it sooner. Somebody left behind a white plastic bag with three books and a folded up newspaper inside it near the tables that Batgirl was sitting at. If it's yours e-mail me with what the books are for identification purposes and we can arrange a handoff.
Posted by Skorch at April 4, 2005 09:55 PMMy boyfriend is Joe Nathan (too), but he doesn't know I'm alive!
I should write a note and put in his locker.
Do you like me (check yes or no)
Do you like me as a girlfriend (check yes or no)
I had school, so I couldn't be at the Bulldog! Will we be there for the home opener, too?
Posted by Donnalove at April 4, 2005 10:12 PMWell, *my* Michael did score a run today, and that I will credit to the Bat-Girl tee under the #5 Jersey I wore all day. It seems drinking a beer out of a past dome beer glass, eating home grilled hotdogs, microwaved popcorn and peanuts that were not in the shell, was not enough to give the boys their opening day win--the youngest's Santana jersey is in the wash so it can be worn to school again tomorrow--hopefully the loss can come out in the rinse and we will be at 500 at this time tomorrow.
Wish we could have been with you all, but alas life and distance got in the way(Does it count if I thought about calling the Bulldog and buying Bat-Girl a beer over the phone, but didn't?)
Posted by Sandee at April 4, 2005 10:26 PMSoccerfan, the next time there is a BatGathering at the Bulldog, sing out a little "Vi-ei-ra! Oh-UH-Oh!" or something. If I'm there, I'll buy you another glass of whatever you're drinking.
Posted by frightwig at April 4, 2005 10:40 PMAlas, I was also unable to make the Bulldog, my DH had to work late and I did not think the sojourn to that fine establishment with a 3 year old was quite apropos. I will, however be present in the venerable heap of stuff on Friday for the Home opener.
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a Santana replica jersey? I went to the Twins Pro Shop today and all they had were the authentic ones...not being made of green, even with my birthday being the day after Bert's, I did not feel it was right to spend $215 for a jersey!
Win Twins!
Posted by talldrinkowater at April 4, 2005 10:43 PMTalldrinkowater,
Have you tried Front Row Sports in the Burnsville Mall? They usually have a nice selection of replicas.
Hope you find one,
Stacy
Dearest Ms. Stacy,
Boyfriends are for nothing if not sharing!
Love,
BG
Talldrink--I have no idea what the name of the dingy little souvenir shop by the dome is, on the washington avenue side heading toward the freeway, I think. But when I was in town for the playoffs last year, I'm pretty sure they had a decent collection of replica jerseys.
Posted by twink at April 4, 2005 11:32 PMUnfortunately, my girlfriend already claimed the two guys most likely to be my boyfriend - Justin and Joe. I think it's down to either Cuddy Bear or Bartlett since they were both nice enough to grant me an interview down in Florida.
Posted by Will Young at April 4, 2005 11:55 PMA query about boyfriends, can I have 3 boyfriends, 1 pitcher, one position player and one in management?
If so my list is as follows:
1. El Presidente
2. Sweet Cheeks
3. Terry Ryan - very rarely has a man done so much with so little.
Win Twins!
PS: Thanks everyone for the hints for finding my pitcher boyfriend's jersey - I will check Front Row tomorrow, since I will be in the area.
I am, ever your Twins trollup!
Posted by talldrinkowater at April 5, 2005 12:11 AMIt's always been in my nature to be a little different from everyone else. Sure, my boyfriend could be Johan Santana, Joe Nathan, Joe Mauer, Torii Hunter or one of the more popular guys. I even considered going with Michael Cuddyer, who I've been a big fan of for years.
But I must be true to my heart. My boyfriend is none other than the Barry Bonds of bears, TC the Bear.
Posted by FPM2K at April 5, 2005 01:41 AMFPM2K,
At least you do not have to worry about your BF being traded! ;-)
Posted by talldrinkowater at April 5, 2005 02:11 AMjks = my boyf since '02, although joe mauer is really. really. hot, and i wouldn't cry if he were my boyfriend either!
Posted by aussie at April 5, 2005 02:19 AMMy wife shares Jeb's post-Corey sadness; I think she feels El Presidente is BF-worthy, though.
Me, I used to like Dougie. And a couple years back, Chris Gomez for some reason. Now, I don't know -- Lewwww, I suppose. The man runs like a cartoon character, but I guess that's part of his charm.
talldrinowater:
Ha! Although, knowing Terry Ryan, if he can get a couple of young arms and a minor league mascot, he might pull the trigger...
YankeeFan
Posted by YankeeFan at April 5, 2005 07:47 AMI do have to say with the curly ringlets and that big powerful swing..The Doctor is my bf hands down!
Posted by Mic2 at April 5, 2005 08:17 AMI'm with Smitty--Torii's the man! I've never been that close to him, but I can imagine the pitter-pattering. Just seeing him make those dramatic catches does it for me. Or as Torii puts it, "breaking hearts."
I'll be there Friday night in the cheap seats. I'll ask all the people sitting around me if they know Batgirl, even though most of you have jobs and can afford decent seats. Hey, maybe mmmarkiep will be next to me! (Good luck with your job search, mmm.)
Posted by Pepper at April 5, 2005 08:18 AMBoyfriends...
It just wouldn't be right if I didn't stake my claim to one Luis Rivas.
Posted by Say Rah! at April 5, 2005 08:20 AMGrant Balfour is all mine...so stay away from my hot Aussie boyfriend, you baseball hussies! <3
Posted by She-Ra, P.O.P. at April 5, 2005 08:35 AMMy boyfriend for the past, oh I don't know, eight years or so is Brad. I just love that whether he's winning by five or losing by five, he strolls off the mound after an inning with exactly the same expression. And the only time he ever really gets mad is when Gardy takes him out of the game too soon.
However, while Johan is very special indeed, he's really just a crush.
Could someone please take out Richie Sexon's kneecaps?
Yours,
k-bro
Mr. Jacque Jones, #1 boyfriend always and 4ever.
Say Rah!, I wonder if you'd mind sharing Luis Rivas with me as well. He's now old enough that I feel I can drool over him without any squicky "cradle-robber" subtext.
And are we allowed to have boyfriends on other teams as well? If not, I'll remain closeted.
Posted by qjw at April 5, 2005 08:43 AMI think my boyfriend is Mike Redmond. Maybe it is the naked batting practice, but I find myself intrigued. Here's to a great season!
Posted by SoftballSuperstar at April 5, 2005 09:23 AMAdam--
Yeah, but he runs like a really SPEEDY cartoon character!
Doug was my BF too, and I was very, very sad for a very long time after he went to Boston. But then Doug was kind enough to go and win the World Series with the Sox, and then keep the ball, and then run his mouth (again). I know that, deep down, he was thinking of me and trying to lessen my pain because all of that made it much easier for me to just... let him go with love.
I have since taken on Lew as my BF. He is niiiice and quiet, and yet, most entertaining. I highly recommend him.
Posted by TwinsGoddess at April 5, 2005 09:27 AMThe Good Doctors curls make me melt. And the pinkish glow he gets after a good play. He is too adorable.
He is hands down my only boyfriend. I even have the t-shirt to prove it.
Posted by HooliganKat at April 5, 2005 09:31 AMWell this is an easy answer -
of course my boyfriend is Boo =)
Dearest Batgirl - I'm ordering my shirt when I get home tonight - last night I was too busy laughing at your fabulous DVD of Oh Five -
Much Love

ESPN's Page 3 - check out Johnny Damon's wedding/vacation pictures - that's all I'm going to say =)

i am with the goddess, i like quiet, dependable and effective. thus, my boy is lew volvo.
Posted by jekyll at April 5, 2005 01:05 PMJohnny got Brian Johnson to sing at his wedding? Probably not the most romantic, but cool.
I think I'm still blinded by the sight of Johnny Damon's wife's teeth. Man are they white. Reminds me of the episode of Friends when Ross whitens his teeth.
Posted by HooliganKat at April 5, 2005 01:22 PMMy friend who is a guy and plays for the Twins (a.k.a. BoyFriend) is most definitely Matty LeCroy. Someone who remains undeterred by being passed in the line-up by 3 Catchers, 1 1B, 1 Ford at DH, not to mention someone with an affinity for exotic foods (i.e. cockroaches) is my type of guy.
Posted by DiggityDino at April 5, 2005 03:09 PMDearest Kat -
Maybe they look super white because of her tan?!?! But yeah - they were crazy white - and that episode of Friends was pretty funny -
and thanks for the reminder - I'll skip my whitener dose today =)
Much peace
Wonder Woman
Woo-Hoo for Lew!
Posted by rach at April 5, 2005 06:51 PMHey, we're in the upper deck for the Home Opener. But ... we're in the FRONT row. Somewhere on the third base line or left field line, I think. I'll have my camera, too. With my long lens I might even have some butt shots for you butt hounds.
My boyfriend? Hmm. If I had to pick I'd say Stew and Lew. The calm cool pro and the goofy guy that plays all out all the time.
Posted by mmmarkiep at April 5, 2005 08:44 PM#27 is my boyfriend. A smile and wave from him always makes my day. I am "the crazy girl from Baltimore" who saw him hit Eutaw street during BP. I'll enjoy watching my 1st baseman, Justin, all season.
Posted by sheenie at April 5, 2005 10:00 PMMy true boyfriend is Michael Cuddyer, whom I fell in love with the first time he came up with the Twins. Being a radio-listener, finding out he was so cute became a bonus!
But I have a love affair with Bradke whenever he's pitching. Don't tell Micheal!
(Pepper-I'll be in the Cheap Seats Friday--my friend and I will debut our "Cheap Seats Chick" shirts. I'd be glad to meet any Batling!)
Just Beth
Posted by Just Beth at April 6, 2005 02:29 PMWhen I first found Bat-Girl.com, all of yesterday, I knew immediately who my boyfriend would have to be. I knew that for me, there could be no other than... Lew Ford. No, Terry Tiffee. No, Lew. Damnit. They're both just so cute and absurd, like young colts. Well, Terry's down in the minors for the start of the season, so I guess I'll go with my Baby-Lew.
Posted by Katharriet at April 6, 2005 04:21 PMJust Beth:
Cheap Seats Chick! I like that! I'll keep an eye out...

Hi Batgirl, I'm a new member I enjoy your webpage, it's very cool. :) I was wondering can I join the Boyfriend list? My two favorite Twins players - Justin Morneau & Joe Mauer. Joe and I are close age lol, we have same Birthday month - April. :) I wish Joe was my boyfriend lol!
Posted by Sarah at April 7, 2005 08:40 PMDear Ms. Sarah,
Welcome to Batgirl. It's a pleasure to have you.
Sincerely,
BG
I have posted a few things and have decided I might be able to stick around a bit...I too have had my heart broken by the trading of Koskie. I also have yet to find a new favourite. So far Lew is winning, but I will have to see what tomorrow brings in order to decide I guess.
