Comments: Johan-nation

Even the start before that, where he gave up for runs... he pitched 8 innings. He was GOLD for 7 of them, only that 1 slip.

So you can argue that it was just bad luck that time. The only downside to this is that Aaron Gleeman will now become even MORE insufferable.

Yeah... I hope you READ THIS Gleeman!

I also would like to pass on this Batgirl Communique to Aaron: during the radio postgame tonight, I heard Tom Kelly utter the phrase, "Knock on wood." I dare you to call in this week to tell him how little you think of him now.

Meanwhile, my best wishes to your grandpa. I hope he's feeling better.

From the "I don't know whether to laugh or cry" department: On the topic of Zach Day's lousy birthday I found a blurb in the recap from the Montreal Gazette (click my name below for the link).

But first, imagine: Olympic Stadium with fewer people in attendance than at a Saints game (which isn't a knock at the Saints, I say it as a point of pride in how well they do attendance-wise), but it's quiet as a morgue in that damp, dank cavern of a ballpark (finally, a ballpark Twins fans can feel superior to). Frank Robinson comes out to take the ball from Day and as he's walking back to the dugout feeling pretty lousy about his performance looks up and then:

"To add insult to injury, the scoreboard flashed a happy birthday message after he had been pulled from the game." - Montreal Gazette 6/16

Maybe I've got a sick sense of humor (ok, there's no "maybe" about it), but I was almost in tears laughing at this. I wasn't laughing at Zach Day or the Expos, but at just how depressing that entire atmosphere must have been to begin with. The first game of a homestand against an AL team not used to playing by NL rules and he gets rung up by the entire opposing team and even the pitcher. He's taken out of the game, looks up and sees "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZACH DAY!". The audience, quiet to begin with, offer a tentative smattering of applause for the birthday boy. God, what a downer.

At least Zach had Youppi! there to cheer him up.

You know whose fault that is? Bud Selig!

EVERYTHING is Bud Selig's fault! Even Bush! It's amazing that the Baseball Comissioner is the Source of Evil.

Even Dick Bremer got into the act when he was doing the promo for kid's birthday parties at the Dome. He said something to the effect of "You'll surely have a better birthday that Zach Day had today".

Wow, few baseball blogs make me laugh, and I couldn't imagine laughing at a evil Twinkie fanblog. But Bat Girl, you've got the gift, despite your attachment to the luckiest team in history.

Chris, you must be a Bitch Sox fan.
No one else would call our team both, "the evil twinkies" and "the luckiest team in history".

Welcome to the Batcave... ;-)
